Looking to buy locusts online for your large pet lizard such as an adult bearded dragon, water dragon, frilled dragon, bosc monitor, etc ? Then look no further than our Adult Locusts. Adult locusts are an excellent livefood for reptiles such as these as they are large ( 2-3 inches long ) and meaty!
Be carefull though Adult locusts can fly and very well! If one manages to jump out of your pet lizards vivarium at feeding time you may need to chase it round the house for a few minutes. On the subject of being carefull make sure you only feed these to large Lizards such as those mentioned earlier (adult bearded dragons, adult water dragons, bosc monitors etc) as they have long sharp powerfull back legs if your pet reptile doesnt have jaws large enough to crush these up it may have a problem swallowing its dinner of adult locusts!
How to look after adult locusts, We only send freshly moulted adult locusts so they will have only been adult for about a week or so (we dont send out our half dead ex-breeders like some do - we feed those to our own reptiles) . Once they reach the adult stage locusts will live for a further 2-3 weeks but only if transferred to a suitable rearing cage they wll only live for a few days in the bag they arrive in.
You will need a well ventilated enclosure such as a wooden vivarium or glass terrarium to house your bulk adult locusts, the enclosure will need a bright light bulb for heat and so the locusts can bask, remove the cardboard egg crate from inside the bag and place it inside the cage leaning against the wall furthest from the light bulb, tip the bran from the bottom of the bag into the cage. Next spend 10-60 minutes chasing the escapees around your room that flew out when you took the cardboard out of the bag. Once you have relocated all of the escapees and they are secure in their new home you will now need to feed them fresh greens as much as they will consume every day. If you follow these instructions your bulk adult locusts should live for 2-3 weeks after delivery, please expect about 10% to pass away during this time. Remember feed them to your pet lizard as soon as possible the longer you keep them the more you will lose through natural wastage.
