Providing an adequeate supply of fresh drinking water for livefoods has always been a problem, historically water has been provided to lievfoods such as crickets and locust in the form of raw carrot, potato or by using damp tissue paper or cotton wool. The problems with using such methods for livefood hydration is that the food soon goes off and needs replacing daily and the crickets will defecate in the tissue paper or cotton wool creating a breeding ground for bacteria so these need constant attention. You can not simply place a bowl of water in with your livefoods as they are notoriously bad swimmers and this method always prove fatal.
Now there is the soloution in the form of bug gel crystals. Bug Gel crystals are made of polyacrylimide gel, this is actually a water absorbing substance. To make bug gel you simply add fresh water to the BUG Gel Granules, the granules absorb the water creating a solid liquid jelly like substance. A small amount of this can be placed in with your livefoods in a shallow dish. Livefoods such as crickets and locusts will eat the gel to obtain moisture without the risk of drowning and if you only feed as much will be consumed by the livefood in a day there is no risk of bacterial infection.
Bug gel is completely safe for the livefood to eat and is not harmfull to reptiles or amphibians that are fed on livefoods that have eaten bug gel.
Bug gel is also used by tarantula and scorpion owners to provide drinking water with out the risk of drowning.
