Mealworm - Tenebrio Molitor
Mealworms are the larvae of the meal beetle. The worms will pupate into beetles if kept at room temperature for long periods, to make them last longer you should keep them somewhere cool. You can even keep them in the fridge. Make sure you remove themat least half an hour bfeore you require them so that they can "come alive" as they will be dormant from the cold.
Prepacked tubs will remain fresh for about a week, bulk bags should be transferred to a suitable container such as a faunarium and kept on a substrate of bug grub.
Superworms - Zophobas Morio
These larger mealworms are the larvae of the Zophobas morio Ground beetle from central and south America. The superworm is much larger than standard mealworms at about 2" long, the adult beetles are between 3 to 4 cm in length. Pre packed tubs will remain fresh for about a week, if purchasing a bulk bag you will need to transfer then to a suitable container such as a large faunarium witha substrate of bug grub. Do not refridgerate as mealworms as this will kill them.
