Exo Terra Monsoon Rain System

  • Programmable rainfall unit for terrariums and greenhouses
  • Easy to install on any type of terrarium or greenhouse
  • Multiple nozzle applications (up to 6!)
  • Large 4 liter (1 gallon) reservoir

The Exo Terra Monsoon RS400 is a programmable rainfall system suitable for all types of terrariums and greenhouses. It helps maintain optimal humidity by generating precipitation at programmed intervals, the duration and frequency of which can be easily adjusted depending on the type of animal or plant housed. Frequent rainfall helps stimulate breeding behaviour, and is a necessity when housing live tropical plants such as Bromeliads, orchids, mosses, etc.

The system can be programmed to rain multiple times per 24-hour cycle, for time periods ranging from one second to two minutes. The large 4 liter (1 gallon) reservoir ensures continuous operation for several days without the need for refilling (ideal for vacations!), and the reservoir can be easily replenished without needing to uninstall the entire system.

The Exo Terra Monsoon RS400 comes with two easy-to-install nozzles, but the system can be extended to accommodate up to 6 nozzles (NOT YET AVAILABLE) , making it ideal for multiple terrariums. The rain produced by these specially designed nozzles is extremely fine, creating a mist-like effect in the terrarium or greenhouse, and the extra long tubing makes it possible to conceal the unit in a storage area or under the terrarium in a cabinet.

  1. Flexible spray nozzles can be pointed in any direction.
  2. Easy to install tubing; fits through the closeable wire/tube inlets (featured on all Exo Terra Terrariums).
  3. Easy to connect and install.
  4. Sloping Top: makes filling water reservoir easier.

Optional Remote Control PT2496 (not included, sold separately)

So its been on the horizon for ages now but its finally arrived in the UK, the Exo terra monsoon rain system for terrariums Exo Terra : Monsoon RS400 / High-pressure Rainfall System . Ive finally got one this week to put on test before i sell them, you would think as a retailer there would be some way the manufacturers or distributors could get these out to retailers to preview before they are released for sale - but hey ho we have to stand in queue with everyone else. I like to test run bits of kit like this before i stock them for two reasons.. 1, to see if they are any good and 2, to make sure im not going to get a load of crud product returned due to faults etc etc, So anyway upon delivery i was suprised at its size, smaller than i somehow imagined but still a good size to be useful the water reservoir takes 4 litres which is the size of a large ice cream tub, design is neat and tidy and it doesnt have the cheap feel that a lot of the exo terra electronics have. Set up is simple, stick a plastic tube and filter onto the bottom of the pump unit, sit it on top of the water reservoir, push fit the black tubing into the top and push the spray jets onto the ends and stick them in the terrarium with the suckers. First good points - there is more than enough length of black tube provided and its very flexible and of good quality. The spray nozzles are plastic although they do look like they would break easily they are very lightweight and have managed to go two days so far with out coming unstuck. Operation is also very easy with two dials, no need to mess around with separate timers, dial on the left sets the time between sprays which can be adjusted from every few minutes to once a day. Length of spray can be from a second to 2 minutes. The spray is very very fine and the nozzles dont leak or drip so thats a First impressions is that its a worth wile piece of kit.. Slight problem appeared today as the feed pipe in the reservoir is the clear air line type which always curls up and halfway through the day i found the system not working due to the pipe curling round and coming out of the water. Will either have to replace with stiffer tube or weight the end of it. second problem.. i was impressed by its performance running two of my terrariums i thought i would put it to the test by adding on some extra nozzles and running a bank of six terrariums so phoned the wholesaler to order up some extra nozzles.. "they are not available" so thats a major oversight to exo terra on that score. They use standard sized airline so i imagine other nozzles will work on it so im going to experiment on that one. It gets a thumbs up so far but im waiting to see if... will the nozzles start to clog and leak soon will the nozzles keep falling off soon how reliable is the pump - is it going to burn out anytime soon will other nozzles give good results FOLLOW UP.... a week later the machine is still performing fine, not one blocked nozzle, not one nozzle fell off, no problems at all. The problem with the inlet hose bending cured itself after a few days, i guess it just needed to stretch out a bit to maintain its shape. The inbuilt timers work spot on, this machine is really a set it and forget it (apart from topping up the water every few days) so it gets a definate thumbs up
